Centralised Phlebotomy Services, the Phlebotomy department includes six services: Anti-coagulant, Haematology, Suspected Outpatient DVT, Inpatient and Outpatient Phlebotomy and Paediatric Phlebotomy.

  • Monitoring and managing patients' anti-coagulant treatment

Suspected Outpatient DVT service
Treats patients in the interim period with low molecular weight Heparin. If a positive thrombosis is diagnosed a further treatment with low molecular weight Heparin and Anti-coagulation therapy is administered.

Opening times: Phlebotomy: Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm

Clinics
Adults: Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm
Outpatient DVT: Mon-Fri 9am-12pm
Haematology: Wed 9-12pm & Wed, Thurs 2pm-5pm
Anti-Coagulant: Mon-Fri 8-11am

Paediatrics
Mon-Fri 1pm-4pm  (appointments only) Please book an appointment by phoning the Children's Out Patients dept between 11am-4pm Mon-Thursday on 01582 497224.

Who to Refer

  • GP patients to be referred to the Anticoagulation Clinic Sisters
  • Haematology patients to Haematology Secretaries
  • Anticoagulation pregnant patients need to be referred to the Consultant Haematologist
